An update in a story we’ve been following since September in the arrest and trial of Dartmouth English professor J. Martin Favor. The 49-year old professor’s attorney filed last Wednesday to have the case continue for another 60 days in the felony count of possessing child porn, in order to put together a case and is expected to change his plea at the end of that period.
Court documents show the motion citing mental health issues and on Thursday, the motion was approved, granting another 60 days for the case.
Favor was arrested on September 3rd after federal officials discovered five videos in his Plainfield, New Hampshire home depicting children engaging in sexual acts.
In November, Favor pleaded not guilty to the felony charge and was released on the conditions that he has no unsupervised contact with minors, and continues counseling with a New Hampshire-based sex therapist.
Favor had worked at Dartmouth College for 22 years and remains on paid administrative leave.
