Commuters who travel through Sunday on weekday mornings will now have a little less traffic.
The Lower Main Street Bridge has been officially reopened following construction earlier this fall. Reopening the bridge allows parents dropping off their children at the middle high school a second entrance to avoid the busy intersection of Route 11 and Lower Main Street.
The project was completed by Hansen Bridge based out of New London and began work back in October, including replacing the deck and bringing the structure up to code regulations.
The bridge will be closed once again for only one day within the next two weeks of December for the final installation of the guardrails, however the exact date has not been announced.
Just like during the period of regular construction over the past two months, residents and their guests will still be able to access homes on Lower Main Street.
