Wet, Cold Weather Wreaks Havoc On Roadways

The first day of December came with some major headaches for drivers Tuesday as the season’s first dose of freezing rain made for tricky conditions on local roadways.

The dangerous conditions prompted the National Weather Service to issue driving advisories in both New Hampshire and Vermont Tuesday afternoon and evening, though dozens of accidents and even some road closures were still reported within the twin states.

Freezing rain made for an equally difficult commute Wednesday morning and evening causing spinouts on both Interstates 91 and 89, though it looks like we should finally be in the clear with much drier conditions expected in the coming days.

Still, this bout of rough weather should serve as a reminder to get those winter tires thrown on your car, break out the ice scrapers, and do whatever you have to do to prepare for the hazards of winter driving.
