Progress on the addition and renovations to the Dunbar Free Library in Grantham continues to move forward.
New paint, a heating system, and carpeting will be done to the existing building and the space will be opened up for the new children’s area. The new addition will add 1400 square feet to the library that will be the new adult area of the library.
A new parking area is being built that will meet EPA regulations for runoff because of the river across the street. Nearly a quarter million was given to the library to purchase land that the parking area will be built on.
Another 200,000 has been raised so far and the town of Grantham took out a bond of almost half a million dollars for the project. Fundraising is ongoing for the library addition and renovations.
A blasting ledge and other minor delays have set back the project a little but it is hoped that the project will be completed by the end of this year.
The library will remain open for patrons throughout the construction.
