Newport Debating Offering Ambulance Service to Neighbor Towns

The towns of Croydon, Goshen and Sunapee, New Hampshire could all be left scrambling for a new ambulance provider after a proposal by a member of the Newport Selectboard. Vice Chair Todd Fratzel asked the board to review its policy on outsourcing the town’s ambulance service, saying that one of every four ambulance call comes from outside Newport.

Currently, Newport Fire & EMS provides service to the neighboring towns at a charge, meaning that increasing the charge – or cutting service all together – are all options being considered.

The selectboard and Town Manager Shane O’Keefe will vote on the issue September 14.
