Top Five Boys Tennis Plays from Spring 2016

Today we’ll be bringing you the YCN top five plays from boys tennis this past Spring.

First up is the 5th pick, Kearsarge’s Charlie O’Connor was able to split the defenders during a doubles match against Profile School. After a weak ball was returned, Charlie was in the right place at the right time, hitting an easy backhand winner.

Next is the 4th pick, during the division three tournament, Portsmouth Christian Academy’s Jack Wu served the ball and after a less than accurate return, Matthew Esters was able to poach and volley the ball cross court right at the feet of Van Etten for the winner.

Now to the third pick, let’s again check out Van Etten and O’Connor as they battled against Profile School. Jack was able to rush in on a weak volley as he hit the ball down the line and out of reach of his opponent.

Next is the second pick, Inter-Lakers Ben Jaquis took on Van Etten in singles play and was able to hit a beautiful deep lob landing in front of the baseline out of Van Etten’s reach to win the point.

And finally to our number 1 play. And yes again it’s Van Etten who played this back and forth point against Jaquis. Etten attempted to come into the net after a return but as we just saw Jaquis is very good at lobbing so Jack was forced to run back and make a desperation backwards swing to keep the point alive. He would eventually run back to the net making a very nice drop shot volley to win the point.
