At Dartmouth College, a dormitory was evacuated early Thursday morning after a pair of trash cans were discovered on fire in the building.
Officials evacuated the Streeter Hall dormitory shortly after 3 a.m. Thursday morning, and no injuries were reported as a result of the incident. Officials say they believe the fires were set intentionally, and that the incident is being investigated as felony arson.
Streeter Hall is primarily a freshman dormitory, located on College Street across from Wheeler Hall. Members of the Hanover police and fire departments responded to the scene, as well as Dartmouth College Safety and Security, and the State Fire Marshall.
The scene was quickly deemed under control, with students allowed to re-enter the building within an hour. It was not immediately known if the building sustained any damage.
Anyone with information on the fire is asked to call Hanover Police at 603-643-2222 or Dartmouth Safety and Security at 603-646-4000.
