Nonprofit to Host TV-Style Singing Competition in Newport
So you think you’re good enough to be in one of the singing shows like ‘The Voice’ or ‘American Idol?’
Well, here’s your chance…kind of. Sullivan County Cares, a nonprofit organization that sends care packages to members of the military serving overseas, is hosting a TV-style singing competition in April to help raise money for the organization.
Organizers are actively seeking upwards of 30 contestants to sign up by March 1, with contestants eventually to sing in front of a live audience on two nights at the Newport Opera House.
Contestants must be at least 13-years-old in order to participate, and should send an email to sullivancountycares@gmail.com to sign up.
The first night of the competition will be held April 22, with the field being narrowed down to 15 contestants for the final night on April 23. Like ‘The Voice’, judges will not be able to see contestants during their performances.
Winners will receive cash prizes.
