A developing story out of Newport, as a guidance counselor to middle and high school students has been placed on administrative leave after he was arrested on seven counts of indecent exposure and lewdness.
Sunapee police say Thomas Mauzy turned himself in to authorities Friday after a month-long investigation in which he was accused of exposing himself on multiple occasions to the reporting party.
Sunapee Police Chief David Cahill said in a press release that nothing in the investigation has led law enforcement to believe any minors were involved or at risk, though SAU 43 Superintendent Cindy Gallagher announced over the weekend that Mauzy had been placed on administrative leave.
Mauzy works within the Newport High School serving both high school and middle school students, though the allegations are said to pertain to off campus incidents.
Mauzy was released on $10,000 dollars personal recognizance bail, and is scheduled to be arraigned March 1 at the 5th Circuit Court in Newport.
