Disabled veterans from all over the country came to The Lake Sunapee Region for three days to participate in the 17 annual Winter Sports Clinic for Disabled Veterans. The event was held this week from Tuesday until Thursday.
Mount Sunapee Resort welcomed 60 disabled veterans to learn how to ski, snowboard, kayak, air rifle shoot, and skate with the help from 120 volunteers.
The event was put on by a partnership between the VA New England Healthcare System and the New England Healing Sports Association.
YCN’s Lynn Solomon spoke with the New England Healing Sports Association president as he reflects on the group’s recent name change.
Other activities for the veterans included a wheelchair basketball game between the veterans and the Sunapee Fire Department held at Sunapee High School and a Texas Holdem Poker game Wednesday night.
Veterans wrapped up their three activity days with a ski race on yesterday at Mount Sunapee Resort.
