1 Dead, 2 Injured After Single-Car Crash on I-89

A sad story out of Grantham as a single-car accident on Interstate 89 Saturday evening left a Massachusetts man dead and two passengers injured.

According to New Hampshire State Police, the accident occurred shortly after 8 p.m. Saturday night when a 2003 Nissan Murano veered into the center median before striking several trees and rolling over.

Police say it took emergency crews more than an hour to extricate the victims from the SUV near mile-marker 42 on the southbound side of the highway.

The driver – 24-year-old Eliecharmiche Alvarado of Rockland, Massachusetts – was pronounced dead at the scene, while two passengers were transported to nearby Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center for treatment.

An unidentified female was airlifted to the hospital with multiple injuries, and a child who was properly fastened in a car seat was taken to the hospital via ambulance with what’s described as minor injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
