Suspected Bank Robber Ordered Held Without Bail

Staying in Vermont, following up on a story we’ve been following since it began, a suspected chain bank robber was arraigned Monday and ordered held without bail.

31-year old Matthew Martin of Weathersfield, Vermont turned himself in to authorities this past weekend after robbing multiple banks across the Twin States.

He was charged with multiple charges in Windsor Superior Court yesterday, including a felony count of assault and robbery and one felony count of larceny.

Over the course of a few weeks, Martin is suspected of robbing the TD Bank in Loudon, the Mascoma Savings Bank in Charlestown, and the Heritage Family Credit Union in Ludlow.

Martin had been labeled as Fugitive of the Week by the US Marshals Service after the second robbery.

On the day the Mascoma Savings Bank was robbed in Charlestown, Martin was supposed to have been sentenced to prison in Vermont for his role in two bank robberies in Springfield earlier this year.
