New London Construction Projects Delayed

An update in a story we brought you earlier this fall regarding a construction project in New London. Work continues tonight on the old Academy Building that houses the town offices, which has halted the work on the Mary Haddad Bandstand.

The Academy Building has been under construction for some time now since back in September when the siding was stripped off and both new windows and siding were installed.

Work on both the Bandstand and Cupola were scheduled to have started back in September as well but have since been delayed as workers have found additional wood rot in the Academy Building.

From a financial aspect, the cost of removing the rot and reinforcing the structural integrity has added another $25,000 to the total cost. With this unforeseen new challenge and project, the total cost has been bumped up to approximately $307,000. Work will continue well into December.
