Colby Sawyer College’s Board of Trustees earlier this week approved plans to construct a brand new arts building on its already scenic New London campus. The 15,000-square foot building will house studios, a state-of-the-art black box theater as well as a fine art gallery with views of Mt. Kearsarge according to a press release announcing the project.
The building will also include additional office space for faculty, and outdoor art areas for students. The project is currently estimated to cost approximately $7-million dollars, though that number could change once final designs are presented to the board of trustees in July.
Board of Trustees Chair Tom Csatari said in the press release that “the new arts building will be a tangible example of the college’s continuing enhancement of its facilities to meet the academic needs of its students.”
Construction of the building is slated to begin in August.
