West Lebanon Pizza Hut Closes Doors

An unfortunately familiar scene along Route 12A in West Lebanon as yet another franchise in the heart of the city’s commercial-shopping district has closed its doors for good.

The Pizza Hut – located between Walmart and McDonalds – abruptly ceased operations last week, becoming the third business with direct road-front property to close since 2013.

A Friendly’s franchise that was located almost directly across from the Pizza Hut closed a little over a year ago, after the Shaw’s Supermarket in the Upper Valley Plaza just down the street shut down in 2013. Another property located just off the I-89 Northbound off-ramp was temporarily closed in 2010 to accommodate construction work, but the Irving Oil gas station has yet to reopen.

The stretch of road draws heavy traffic due to its convenience to residents of Hanover, Lebanon, and Vermont with its proximity to the interstate. An increase in online shopping and health-conscious eating is believed to be responsible for the decline in business.
