Sunapee’s One Mile West Closing Doors

A popular restaurant in Sunapee is shutting its doors for good Wednesday night after more than six years in the community. One Mile West – located on Route 103 not far from the Newbury town line – announced on its Facebook page earlier this week it will be shutting down operations as of closing time Wednesday.

According to the post, the restaurant’s lease option was not exercised and the time has come for the business to move on. The post went on to thank the restaurant’s loyal staff, patrons, friends and family for their support.

That post garnered more than 60 comments from community members offering well wishes to owners and staff. No additional information was made available as to the reason behind One Mile West’s closing, though some speculation has risen as to whether the restaurant has been losing business since the Salt Hill Pub at Mt. Sunapee opened earlier this summer less than a mile and a half away.

That’s a shame and a real loss to the local community. Our family has been fans for years and have greatly prefered OMW to Salt Hill Pub. Best wishes to the management and staff, and here’s hoping a good successor follows soon.
