The Big Green will be in the national spotlight Thursday evening when head football coach Buddy Teevens appears on CBS’ The Late Show hosted by Stephen Colbert.
Teevens garnered national attention in the sports world earlier this fall for his help in developing the “Mobile Virtual Player” – or MVP scene here – which is a remote-control tackling dummy that aims to reduce concussions by limiting the amount of live-contact drills during practice.
Dartmouth hopes to deliver roughly a dozen MVPs for testing to other college programs prior to the upcoming bowl season, and potential have the devices on the market come the start of the 2016 season.
Teevens has said he and his team have already received several inquires from NFL teams, but that the device still needs to meet safety standards and line up a mass manufacturer. Dartmouth is 3-0 this season, and will host Ivy League rival Yale in Saturday’s homecoming game.
