For the second straight day, we’ve got a story where excessive speeds on a local highway landed a young driver under arrest.
Just three days after 20-year-old Justin Boudro was arrested for driving 117mph on Interstate 91 in Westminster, an 18-year-old Vermont man was clocked traveling at more than 125mph just miles south in Rockingham.
According to a press release, Austin Oliver of Strafford admitted to driving his Subaru Impreza up to 135mph after not initially recognizing he was being pursued by an unmarked police car.
Vermont State Police say traffic on the interstate was heavy during the traffic stop at approximately 5 p.m., and that Oliver had made several lane changes through traffic while being followed.
Oliver was issued a citation for driving at speeds greater than 125mph, and is scheduled to appear at the Vermont Superior Criminal Court in Brattleboro later this month.
