A large area of land in Sunapee will remain undeveloped and open for recreational use as part of a donation to the Ausbon Sargent Land Preservation Trust.
The 37-acre conservation easement was donated to the trust by Patricia Sorento and her husband last month, after being in the family for more than 45 years. The property is located off Avery Road, near Wendell Marsh and Dewey Woods.
According to the trust’s website, the land is home to numerous woodland birds, and also has a winding snowmobile trail running through the property.
With the addition of the Sorento property, Ausbon Sargent now protects 136 properties covering more than 11,000 acres in the Mount Kearsarge and Lake Sunapee regions.
