Colby-Sawyer College Enters Pact to Help Minority Students Graduate

A local college is taking part in an initiative that should make it easier for low-income, minority students to graduate. Colby-Sawyer College in New London, New Hampshire announced earlier this week that it’s joined the Phoenix Pact – an $18-million dollar scholarship program with a Chicago-based prep school.

The pact is a three-way agreement between students of North Lawndale College Prep who commit to graduating with a GPA of 3.0 or higher, colleges that ensure at least half of their minority students earn a degree, and the Pact Fund which will cover students’ financial aid costs.

Colby-Sawyer first began working with the Chicago prep school in 2009 through through the college’s Progressive Scholars Program.
