Summer Heat Poses Danger to Health

With extremely hot and humid weather, the question is: is very hot weather dangerous for people? The answer is YES. The NH Department of Health and Human Services reminds residents that people suffer heat-related illness when their bodies are unable to compensate for the heat and cool themselves.

Humidity also prevents the body from releasing heat quickly as well. So what can be done to prevent this? First of all, take the heat seriously. Stay hydrated, check on the elderly…especially those without air conditioning, avoid working outside in the heat of day and never leave children or pets in vehicles.
