Official to Hear Ideas on Quechee Gorge Suicide Prevention
Staying in Vermont VTrans is planning to hold a public forum on ideas to for suicide prevention around the Quechee Gorge. According to The Valley News, Officials plan to gather opinions on the topic at a meeting at the Hartford Town Hall on November 16th. The information will be used to draft a report on Suicides at the bridge for the Vermont State Legislature Due in January.
At least 8 people have taken their lives at the site since 2008, leaping from the bridge which towers 165 feet above the river. Ideas have ranged from adding fencing, and security cameras to the bridge, to signs advising any person in crisis of the resources available to them.
