A White River Junction man is under arrest after driving the wrong way on Interstate 89 and is facing charges of DUI. Vermont State Police say that around 1:30 AM on Sunday morning, they received a call from a driver on I-89 who reported another driver traveling the wrong direction on the highway. The motorist was driving southbound in the northbound lanes and was reported around mile marker 8 in the town of Hartford. Troopers from VSP responded and intercepted the vehicle just north of Exit 1, Quechee.
46-year old Brendan Scribner of WRJ was arrested on suspicion of DUI and was processed at the Hartford Police Department. He was released on a criminal citation to appear in Vermont Superior Court Windsor Criminal Division later this year for DUI charges.
Earlier this year, a Hartland man was charged with DUI after killing a Rhode Island woman while driving the wrong way on I-89. The driver, 38-year old Daniel Cowdrey, posted his $25,000 bail and waived his probable cause hearing.
