Last Friday, the Lebanon Raiders girls lacrosse team hosted the Derryfield Cougars. At this point early in the season, both teams were undefeated with Lebanon coming in at 2 and 0 and Derryfield at 4 and 0.
So far this season, Derryfield has been dominant outscoring opponents 77 to 31 over their first four games. That’s an average of nearly 20 goals per game! Lebanon had their hands full as they attempted to take down the high scoring Cougars. As the game began, Derryfield took an early lead and wouldn’t look back.
By halftime the Cougars were up 10 to 5 as the Raiders did their best to keep the game from getting out of hand. Derryfield midfielder and senior captain, Polly Carter seemed to score with ease for the duration of the game as her quick feet and athletic stick handling skills were too much for Lebanon to defend against.
Final score Derryfield 21, Lebanon 10. Derryfield head coach and Captain Polly Carter spoke to YCN after the game.
Derryfield adds another impressive performance to its resume while remaining undefeated at 5 and 0 while Lebanon is now 2 and 1. Derryfield looks to match its undefeated regular season record from a year ago and hopes to get back to the division III championship game that they narrowly lost by two goals in 2015.
