Monday, the Sunapee Seniors held a town office and school board candidate forum at the Lake Sunapee Methodist Church in town. Candidates running for town selectman, fire engineer, water and sewer commission, and school board were each given five minutes to speak and five minutes to answer questions from the town residents.
Budgets, taxes, transparency in government, and communication with town residents dominated most town discussion while school issues also touched on subjects of bullying, curriculum, class sizes, and student population at the Middle High School.
Bullying remains a predominant issue within the Sunapee school systems, with parents and students citing bullying from other students as well as staff and administrators. The School Board is actively trying to address the issue.
A second Sunapee town office and school school board candidates forum will be held on Monday, February 29th at the Sunapee Methodist Church in Sunapee sponsored by Project Sunapee.
Doors open at 6:30 PM with the forum beginning at 7 PM.
