Claremont PD Receives Reaccreditation

In Claremont, the city’s police department has announced that it has received reaccreditation from an honorable commission. Police Chief Alex Scott made the announcement yesterday, stating that they were awarded the honor from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, known as CALEA, after a formal hearing this past weekend in Miami Florida.

CALEA’s accreditation is a voluntary process that examines annual reports from agencies across the country to see if the departments are fulfilling the program’s standards.

Back in June, CALEA representatives spent three days here in town, examining the Claremont Police Department and conducting interviews with members from all facets of the town, including town officials and residents. The report found that there were no areas of concern in the city in regards to how the police department operates.

It should be noted that there are only 25 accredited agencies across New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, and Massachusetts.
