Springfield Man Killed After Hit by Two Cars on I-91
A sad story out of Hartland, Vermont after a Springfield man was killed Wednesday night while standing near his broken-down vehicle on Interstate 91 northbound.
According to Vermont State Police, 60-year-old Arthur Huston was pronounced dead at the scene after being struck by two passing motorists who had moved into the left lane to give room to the disabled vehicle. Police say Huston’s vehicle was pulled over in the right breakdown lane with its hazard lights on, but that Huston was standing in the left passing lane at the time of the collision.
According the report, the first vehicle “struck a male that was standing in the passing lane” and the second “collided with the male in the roadway.” Police say both vehicles pulled over, and no charges are expected against those drivers.
Portions of the highway was detoured from about 10:30 Wednesday night to just before 5 o’clock Thursday morning.
