A device used to illegally obtain debit card and password information was found over the weekend attached to a local ATM terminal. Hartford Police say they were notified of the presence of a potential skimming device just after 1 p.m. Saturday afternoon at the Mascoma Savings Bank.
The device was confirmed to be illegal, and after a brief investigation, it was determined it was placed on the ATM sometime around 6 a.m. that morning.
Mascoma Savings Bank said in a press release that it’s confident no customer data was compromised.
Police are encouraging citizens to be vigilant when using ATM’s and to not use a machine if something appears out of place.
