New London Barn Playhouse Reflects on Kyle Jean-Baptiste

On a note of remembrance, Actor Kyle Jean-Baptiste, 21, a former New London Barn Playhouse intern died after falling from a fire escape in Brooklyn, New York, recently. Kyle made history as the first black actor and the youngest person to play the role of Jean Valjean on Broadway. Jean-Baptiste was chosen as an intern for the New London Barn in 2013.

Keith Coughlin of the Barn described the intense and demanding nature of being a barnie intern during the 3 months in residence. He reflected on Kyle’s summer at the theater.

We at YCN join the New London Barn Playhouse and all its patrons that have fond memories of this talented actor in remembering this wonderful young man.

Scary how someone could die so instantaneously. I’m from New York City and everyone is in mourning over here.
