A popular swimming spot in nearby Lyme, New Hampshire will be closed for the next 24 hours to combat invasive underwater plants spreading throughout the pond. Officials say Post Pond began receiving chemical treatment this afternoon to help thwart off non-native milfoil found throughout the pond. According to a press release posted on the town’s website, temporary water restrictions have been imposed, including no swimming for 24 hours following treatment, and an advisory not to use the pond’s water for drinking, irrigation or mixing for agricultural sprays until further notice.
Signs have been posted surrounding the town’s shoreline to warn residents of the treatment. Anyone with questions on the pond’s treatment is encouraged to contact the Center for Aquatic Control Technology at 508-865-1000.
