Northern Pass Transmission Project Receiving Opposition

An announcement has come from The Northern Pass transmission line project stating they will bury 52 miles of lines in the North Country. According to the Northern Pass website, the route also shortens some towers by decreasing the total amount of electricity from 1,200 megawatts to 1,000 megawatts.

The Northern pass project also states it is dedicated to supporting North country opportunities, supports tourism initiatives, and community investment. The Appalachian Mountain Club remains firmly opposed to the 186-mile transmission line stating it  will visually impact the White Mountain National Forest, Appalachian Trail, and over 95,000 acres throughout the state.

The AMC continues to work in opposition to the project as proposed and is working with partners to raise concern about its visual, environmental, and economic impacts.
