Cornish and Unity Schools Combining Efforts to Hire Two New Teachers

Both the Cornish and Unity school boards voted last night to split costs in hiring two new teachers. This, in an effort to attract and retain quality teachers in the area. The boards voted unanimously to hire both a part-time music and art teacher, with Cornish to pay 40-percent of costs, and Unity to pay 20-percent – meaning the teachers would receive approximately 60-percent of full-time benefits.

The Eagle Times reports the employees will be on Cornish’s payroll and insurance, with Unity to be billed quarterly to cover their share. The music position already exists within the Cornish School District, while the art teacher will be a new position.
