Sunapee Chowder Challenge Attracts Crowd and Names Winners

It was a fun day on Sunday for food enthusiasts in Sunapee, New Hampshire as the Chowder Challenge brought the best chowder from the region into one place to face off. Connoisseurs of chowder and chili came from all over to the 16th Annual Sunapee Parent Teacher Organization Chowder and Chili Challenge in Sunapee Harbor. Nine area restaurants served up various chowders from corn to clam at this year’s Chowder Challenge. YCN caught up with Charleen Osgood, who is one of more than 80 volunteers that help put on the successful event and we asked how this year’s event went.

The 2016 winners were were judges choice: Peter Christian’s first, Suna second, and Mountain Spirits Tavern third. People’s choice was Mount Spirits Tavern first, Peter Christian’s second, and Suna third. Then kids choice was: Peter Christian’s first, Mountain Spirits Tavern second, and Suna third. Seems like Peter Christian’s was a hit! Money raised from the Chowder Challenge will be used for the Sunapee Central Elementary School’s enrichment and afterschool programs.
