Claremont’s local mortgage servicing company on Maple Avenue is taking one step further towards expansion. Tuesday and Wednesday, National Field Representatives at 158 Maple Avenue destroyed the adjacent former Claremont Savings Bank building, which they had previously purchased. This demolition is part of their expansion plans, which includes an all-new parking lot across the street on the former site of Gary’s Claremont Tire Company.
The automotive business, which had been closed for a while, was demolished recently and a large plot of ground was cleared and leveled to provide more parking options for NFR employees.
A construction firm out of Newport is handling the demolition, which is making room for NFR to add an addition to their current building. No site plan with exact details has been submitted to the city as of yet.
Earlier this year, a portion of Maple Avenue, including NFR, was deemed an Economic Revitalization Zone by the city, making businesses in that zone eligible for tax credits. NFR is a mortgage servicing company that employs about 200 people here in Claremont and an additional 50 at its Florida location.
