We may all enjoy fresh fruits and veggies but do you ever wonder if it been a good growing season for farmer? For example, have we had too much rain or not enough? With the growing interest, pun intended, in local foods including fruits, vegetables, and meats from local farms, YCN news stopped by a local farmstand to ask about this growing season and what their hopes are, for future farming in New Hampshire.
Pete’s has a dedicated customer base with over 30 years in operation. The produce is picked from their gardens and brought directly to the farm stand for sale to the customers. Pete’s Farm Stand focuses on direct retail sales to customers and grows vegetables that can store well such as carrots and potatoes. The Monadnock Menus program helps keep money in our local economy by offering restaurants foods from local farm.
The hope is that this program will create a community network where local farmers and institutions can help each other out.
