The 12th annual Black Fly Blitz 5k run in Wilmot took place on Memorial day. It’s a fun family friendly local event that the community looks forward to every year.
This fundraiser 5k run is put on annually by the Wilmot Community Association each Memorial Day with over 200 runners participating in this years event. All money raised goes to the Wilmot Community Association and to the Kearsarge Regional High School cross country and track teams.
Participants, friends and families were treated with live music from “The Cloud Duo” and games, face painting and other activities were available for children. Medals were awarded to the 1st, 2nd and third place finishers in each age group. This year’s overall women’s winner was Molly Hoyt of Hatfield, MA and the overall Men’s winner was Tim Cunningham, a local Kearsarge student from Springfield, NH who spoke to YCN after his run.
Ann Davis and David Wallace, both from the Wilmot Community Association, presented this year’s medals as another fun and successful Black Fly Blitz came to a close.
The Black Fly Blitz looks like a great time, whether you’re participating in the race or simply hanging out with the community. Be sure to register before next year’s race.
