Top Two Teams in DIII Girls Lacrosse Fight for Win

On Tuesday, the Kearsarge girls lacrosse team hosted Derryfield for what some are calling a playoff matchup with both teams expected to be ranked in the top three come playoff time.

Coming into this contest, Derryfield hadn’t lost a regular season game in two years and was 5 and 0. In fact, the last time they lost was in the division III championship game last year. But Kearsarge was out for revenge with their only loss on the season coming from Derryfield just three weeks before. Kearsarge played well, winning the majority of draws and keeping Derryfield’s offense, which has been their strength, at bay.

Derryfield wasn’t quite able to keep up with Kearsarge’s pace and lost by a final score of Kearsarge 10, Derryfield 8. Kearsarge head coach Hilary Grimes and attackmen Anna Stowell spoke to YCN after the game.

Kearsarge and Derryfield are both now sitting at 5 and 1, still in the top three of the division just below undefeated Laconia who Kearsarge will face off against Friday.
