An update on a story we first brought you last fall regarding a 49-year-old Newport man charged with possessing hundreds of images of child pornography on his personal computer. According to authorities, 49-year-old Allen Langlois pleaded guilty Monday in Federal Court on the charges stemming from his September arrest.
Langlois was arrested Sept. 27 at his 8 Roseland Land home after authorities executed a search warrant as the result of a lengthy investigation.
Local, state and federal authorities all took part in the operation, which was conducted as a result of Project Safe Childhood – a nationwide initiative aimed at protecting children from online exploitation and abuse.
Langlois is due back in court in July for sentencing, which is expected to be 42 months’ imprisonment, and a lengthy period of supervised release as part of his plea deal. He also faces fines of up to $250,000.
The class A Felony could carry a sentence of up to 15 years in prison.
