In Plainfield, voters will be asked some interesting questions in regards to the town’s library and post office, as officials are considering the possibility of attaching the two buildings.
Residents will be asked to approve a $10,000 warrant article during Town Meeting March 12, that would pay for a study into the costs of physically moving the Meriden Post Office to the Meriden Library.
The Post Office currently sits within the campus of Kimball Union Academy – though according to the Valley News, school officials have indicated they’d like to see the building move elsewhere.
The town has also been researching ways to create a more handicap accessible entrance to the Meriden Library, and wants to know if attaching the building – located just about a mile away – and creating a common entrance, would solve both issues.
Residents will be asked to approve a $2.2 million dollar operating budget up nearly $100,000 from last year’s budget. That number would increase to $2.5 million if all spending articles are approved.
