Fall Mountain Advances After Win Over Newport

The Fall mountain Wildcats and the Newport Tigers girls basketball teams squared off in a second round division 3 game at Fall Mountain in Langdon Thursday night.

In the opening quarter both teams struggled to find their game and put the ball in the net. When Newport’s point guard Selena Coronis had to come out of the game because of two fouls, Fall Mountain began to find its rhythm blocking shots and scoring on the fast breaks in the second quarter and lead 41 – 15 at the half.

]Newport tried a comeback in the third quarter and outscored Fall Mountain 15 – 10 but could get no closer than 19 points in the fourth and lost 63 – 36 and finished the season with a record of 11 – 8.

Fall Mountain basketball player Brooke Aumand (#33) was high scorer in the game with 17 points. Stephanie Carl (#23) scored 10 points for Newport.

Fall Mountain who has now won 13 straight games will meet Pelham away in a quarterfinal game on Saturday the 27th at 7pm.
