Sunapee Students Take Home Scholastic Art Awards

This past weekend, students from all over New Hampshire competed to have their artwork highlighted at the 2016 Scholastic Art Awards at Pinkerton Academy in Derry.

Over 1100 students from 382 public and private schools from grades 7-12 sought recognition in this year’s art awards, and a handful of local students took home some prestigious awards. YCN’s Lynn Solomon was at the event on Sunday and spoke to some Sunapee students who stood above the rest.

In all, there were 2100 submissions, of which less than 1000 received awards. Categories included fine art, photography, sculpture, digital media, and film. Nationally, the program awards a considerable $1 million in scholarships and prizes.
