In a story that we had originally brought you in the early fall, a local Claremont business right here on Pleasant Street is getting closer to its move down to Water Street to populate an old mill building.
Monday night, the city’s Planning Board approved the site plan for the renovation of the mill at 13 Water Street, where owners Jeff and Sarah Barrette will move their printing business, the Ink Factory, come September of this year.
Last fall, the Barrettes jumped at an opportunity to utilize the former mill building as part of a tax relief program, which hopes to rehabilitate the historic buildings and districts in Claremont.
At Monday night’s meeting, the board raised no objections to the site plan and even granted a special use permit to allow the industrial use that the Ink Factory utilizes to print and embroider.
When YCN News spoke to Jeff Barrette last August, he expressed hope that other businesses in Claremont or even other areas would follow his example and help bring these historic buildings back to their former glory.
Although the interior plans for the building have been approved, the exterior has yet to be approved.
