The current president of nearby Colby-Sawyer College in New London has accepted a new position at another college. Thursday afternoon, President Tom Galligan accepted the position of dean at Louisiana State University’s Paul M. Hebert Law Center, starting this summer.
Back in September, and after 10 years in office, Galligan announced that he would not be seeking a third term as Colby-Sawyer’s president after the current term ends on June 30th. This will not be Galligan’s first time being employed at LSU; he spoke about his time there with John O’Connor on Capital Connections late last year.
Among 29 candidates for the position, Galligan and another finalist visited Baton Rouge last week to meet with faculty, students, alumni, and members of a search committee.
In his new position, Galligan will oversee all aspects of academic life within the center, including academic programs, fiscal management, and student enrollment. He will take up the position on July 1st of this year.
