It was a scary scene in downtown Springfield, Vermont Tuesday afternoon as a White River Junction teen flipped her car after striking a Main Street guardrail.
Police say 19-year-old Morgan Barber was traveling east on Main Street shortly after noon Tuesday when her Toyota Corolla struck a guardrail on the westbound lane and rolled on top of two unoccupied parked vehicles.
Barber – who told police she had briefly looked down before crossing into the westbound lane – received minor injuries as a result of the accident.
It was not initially known what caused Barber to look down or if a cell phone was involved, though police say an investigation into the accident remains ongoing.
The use of handheld electronic devices, which include phones, music players, and laptops, just like in New Hampshire, are banned on Vermont roadways.
