The town of Hartford, VT is set to hire an interim town manager Feb. 1 as part of an expected contract with a New Hampshire based municipal resources company.
According to the Valley News, former Keene city manager Patrick MacQueen will come to Hartford on an interim basis until a permanent replacement is hired. MacQueen – a senior staff member at Municipal Resources Inc., – has also served in Enfield, Pelham, Durham, and Berlin through his service in the company.
The need for an interim town manager came to when longtime town manager Hunter Rieseberg resigned back in August.
The town’s selectboard then appointed Fire Chief Steve Locke to the role, and was hopeful he would stay in a permanent basis. But Locke announced in December he’d accepted a position as fire chief up in Burlington, to which his first day is this Friday.
The Selectboard has already narrowed down candidates for a permanent replacement, though uncertainty remains as to when an eventual hire could start.
