Voters in Rockingham, Vermont will be asked to allot nearly half a million dollars to fund repairs to town hall, as well as several other expenditures incorporated within numerous warrant articles.
The selectboard is hosting a town meeting with residents on Feb. 29 to discuss the 22 articles in all, which will eventually be put to their vote March 1. Among the repairs to town hall include upgrades to the building’s 30-year-old elevator, its main and alley doors, as well as improvements to the roof.
The selectboard is also asking to borrow $1 million dollars to fund the replacement of 13 fire department vehicles and apparatus in Rockingham, Bellows Falls and Saxtons River.
An additional article, as previously reported here on YCN News, is a citizen’s request to authorize voters the ability to decide the location of a proposed federal prison in the village of Bellows Falls.
Voters will also elect town and school district officials come the March 1 vote.
