Now that colder temperatures have moved in and we’ve got a bit of a snow cover on the ground, officials from the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department are reminding snowmobilers to always wear a helmet when riding.
This comes after a Grantham man was injured Friday when his machine fell on top of him while riding on his own property. Authorities say Jerry Mitura was attempting to turn his snowmobile onto an embankment outside his home when it tipped over and fell on top of him.
Members of the Grantham Fire and Rescue, and Police departments responded to the scene, as well as officers from the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department.
Mitura – who was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident – was transported to nearby Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
No additional information was available as to Mitura’s condition.
