Hanover Man Arrested After Brief Chase on I-91

Vermont State Police were involved in a brief chase when a driver clocked traveling 31 mph over the speed limit failed to initially pull over for officers.

According to the press release, troopers observed a vehicle traveling at 86 mph in a 55 zone shortly after 12:30 Monday morning near mile marker 70 in the northbound lane of Interstate 91 in Hartford.

The driver, later identified as 36-year-old Simon Chauchard of Hanover, ignored trooper’s initial requests to pull over, prompting officers from the Hartford and Norwich Police Departments to join the pursuit. The vehicle eventually stopped some three miles after troopers made initial contact, where Chauchard was then arrested without incident.

The man was transported to the Hartford Police Department for processing, and is slated to be arraigned in the Windsor Superior Court Criminal Division on March 1.
