Springfield Man Arrested in Connection With Robbery

An update on a story we brought you Tuesday regarding an armed robbery at the Cavendish General Store late Monday morning.

According to Vermont State Police, 33-year-old Joshua Corliss of Springfield turned himself in to authorities last night shortly after an active arrest warrant was placed on his behalf.

Corliss was arrested for his role in an armed robbery in which he held a knife to the throat of a female attendant before a second employee intervened and struck him in the arm with a machete. Corliss fled with the store with the cash register, but dropped it in the parking lot before fleeing in a vehicle parked nearby.

Police say they recovered evidence at the scene and surveillance footage from neighboring locations that helped authorities identify the suspect.

Corliss is currently being held at the Southern State Correctional Facility in Springfield on $50,000-dollars bail.
