News on a developing story involving an armed robbery Monday at the Cavendish General Store as police are still searching for the knife-wielding suspect.
According to Vermont State Police, an unidentified white male entered the store shortly before noon Monday and held a knife to an attendant while demanding cash. A second worker then appeared with a machete, and attempted to fight the robber off while potentially striking him in the arm.
The suspect fled the store on foot with the cash register, and dropped it in the parking lot before fleeing in a 2005 Volkswagen Jetta with Vermont registration. Police say neither of the store’s workers were injured during the incident, and that a search of the area turned up no signs of the vehicle or suspect.
